Nazca Lines – Peru

Nazca Photos - Peru by Flicker user scubavagabond

About 400 kilometers south of Lima lies the Nazca Desert which is home to ancient geoglyphs that dates back to 400 and 650 AD. The lines were made by removing a layer of red pebbles from the ground to reveal the grey earth that lies beneath. Hundreds of these designs can be seen, all ranging in size, but the most popular of all are the animal geoglyphs of monkeys, sharks, lizards, and spiders among others.
